There are weirdos, there are funny situations, and there are moments where the only sane response is to laugh, screenshot, and tell your friends about it later.
The world of online dating is exactly what you think it is, and also somehow stranger. Swiping, messaging, first-date small talk — it's all part of the routine now. Plenty of Fish, in particular, became a regular part of my week. Some nights ended with a good story. Some ended with a lesson. Most ended with a group text to my friends.
What You End Up Learning Fast
- Profiles lie, but photos rarely capture the full situation.
- The first message tells you more than the full bio ever will.
- Asking real questions gets you real answers — and fewer weirdos.
- You start spotting red flags the way you spot a sale at the rack.
Finding the Funny
The search for connection is, on its best days, ridiculous. There is comfort in treating it that way. Laughing at the bad messages, the no-shows, the awkwardly long pauses — all of it keeps the whole process from feeling heavy. Dating should be a story you can tell later, not a report you have to file.
If you've ever spent an hour crafting a message and gotten back "k," you already know. You are not alone in this.
